Former Conservative MP Craig Williams has pleaded guilty to cheating connected to UK general election wagers. The admission follows a regulatory review by the Gambling Commission into bets placed on the poll date.
Williams entered the plea under section 42(1)(a) of the Gambling Act 2005. The investigation examined financial wagers made before the official announcement of the election schedule. Twelve additional individuals are scheduled to stand trial on identical charges linked to the same betting period.
