On June 23, 2023, iGEN organized a presentation event for four local organizations seeking sponsorship from its members. The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation was among the featured groups, presenting its emergency nutrition program for residents in Malta.
The session allocated a fifteen-minute presentation window to each applicant, alongside the Malta Community Chest Foundation, Puttinu Cares, and the Malta Ranger Unit. Foodbank Lifeline addresses short-term food insecurity for individuals and families navigating benefit delays, low income, illness, homelessness, or housing instability.
The foundation distributes nutritionally balanced seven-day emergency packs containing canned goods, cereals, pasta, rice, and sauces until permanent support measures are implemented.
Donation Framework and Distribution Scale
The organization relies entirely on contributions from private donors and commercial enterprises. Incoming food donations are inspected, sorted, and assembled into weekly parcels, while financial contributions are directed toward bulk purchases from established supermarket and distributor networks. Current operations deliver more than 16,000 food packs annually to over 300 households.Program data indicates that demand for emergency supplies has increased since the foundation's establishment in 2015. The organization continues to adjust its weekly distribution volumes to match the growing number of families requiring temporary nutritional assistance. Operational details were sourced from the foundation's official records.
