Ireland's GRAI Investigates 145 Soft2Bet Sites Four Weeks After Launch

Ireland's newly established Gaming Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has launched investigations into 145 online gambling platforms four weeks after assuming oversight duties on 1 July. The regulatory review targets sites owned or operated by the Soft2Bet group, following the authority's decision to issue no new remote betting licenses to the company's six affiliated entities.

Regulatory Review and Licensing Transition

All 145 platforms under investigation currently appear on blacklist registers in at least one European jurisdiction. Prior to the GRAI's establishment, Ireland's Revenue and the Department of Justice had authorized remote betting operations for six companies managed by Soft2Bet or its related entities. The new regulatory body has not issued any licenses to these operators since taking control.

Operational Changes and Compliance Checks

Among the reviewed platforms, OnlySpins was found to conduct no age verification or identity checks for users located in Ireland. The site ceased operations on 17 July. The transition to the GRAI represents a broader restructuring of Ireland's gambling oversight framework, with previous licensing decisions administered by Revenue and the Department of Justice before the new authority assumed full jurisdiction.
